Poster Sessions

Poster sessions are held on the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the exhibition hall. Each session is 1.5 hours, the sessions will be split between odd and even poster numbers, so participants have 45 minutes to present their posters. Details on Poster Prizes can be found here.

Information for poster presenters

What size should posters be?
Maximum recommended poster dimensions: 954 x 1,388 mm (portrait).

I submitted the abstract but can’t attend – can someone else present the poster?
Each submitted abstract must be accompanied by at least one co-author who presents the corresponding poster at the meeting. If a co-author will be presenting in your place, and has not registered yet, please ask them to do so as soon as possible, to ensure that we can include the abstract in the conference abstract ebook.

When should I hang my poster?
Posters can only be displayed after 08:30 on the day of your poster session. The day "code" in front of your poster number indicates which session you are in (i.e. SUN – Sunday, MON – Monday, TUE – Tuesday or WED - Wednesday). Posters should be displayed both for the entire duration of the poster session and during the lunch break.

How do I hang my poster?
Adhesive material will be provided.

Where should I go during the conference if I have a problem or question related to posters?
There will be a poster helpdesk close to the poster area, where staff will be happy to assist you.

When should I present my poster?
Please present your poster during the appropriate poster session, at the time indicated below:

  • Session SUN: Sunday 31 August: 15:00-16:30, Hall Maillot
    odd numbers ‘SUN’: 15:00 – 15:45    even numbers ‘SUN’: 15:45 – 16:30
  • Session MON: Monday 1 September: 15:00-16:30, Hall Maillot
    odd numbers ‘MON’: 15:00 – 15:45    even numbers ‘MON’: 15:45 – 16:30
  • Session TUE: Tuesday 2 September: 15:00-16:30, Hall Maillot
    odd numbers ‘TUE’: 15:00 – 15:45    even numbers ‘TUE’: 15:45 – 16:30
  • Session WED: Wednesday 3 September: 15:00-16:30, Hall Maillot
    odd numbers ‘WED’: 15:00 – 15:45    even numbers ‘WED’: 15:45 – 16:30

When should I remove my poster?
Posters should be taken down before 18:00 on your poster session day. For Wednesday's session, please remove your poster by 14:00 on Thursday 4 September. Please note: posters may be damaged or mislaid if they are not taken down by these times.
 
Poster Prizes

Prizes for scientific posters will be awarded by EMBO Press (EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, Molecular Systems Biology and EMBO Molecular Medicine), the FEBS publications (FEBS Journal, FEBS Letters, Molecular Oncology and FEBS open bio), Nucleic Acid Research and by the L’Oreal Foundation “For Women in Science”. A prize will also be awarded for the best Education session poster. The prizes will be presented during the closing ceremony.

"Poster of the day" prizes will be awarded by EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, Molecular Systems Biology and EMBO Molecular Medicine on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and The FEBS Journal, FEBS Letters, Molecular Oncology and FEBS Open Bio on Monday.

Posters of the day will be announced at the EMBO Press booth and the FEBS booth respectively, in the exhibition hall ten minutes before the end of each poster session. The 'posters of the day' will be displayed in a special area during the conference.

Journal editors, EMBO Young Investigators and scientists selected by SFBBM will determine the winners based on high-quality and exciting unpublished research presented in a clear and appealing manner. The overall poster prize winners will mainly be determined from the ‘posters of the day’ by the editors of the respective journals.

Other relevant information

  • The conference app will also include all presented abstracts. Abstract titles are searchable in the app. The link to the app will be available two weeks prior to the conference.
  • Taking photographs of the posters and other presentations is not permitted during the conference.
